The MIA/KIA Telgrams
of Pvt. Steven T. Lester

During wartime, not a day goes by in which a wife or mother back home dreads the sound of the phone or doorbell ringing. It often means the delivery of bad news. The first telegram on January 15, 1945, informs the wife of Pvt. Steven T. Lester that her husband has been reported missing. His wife is left to wonder what the coming days and weeks will bring. Not until March 7 does she receive confirmation that her husband has indeed been killed in the European Theater.
