Personal effects of Cpl. Aaron Yamin

The Russian Jewish immigrant earned the nation’s second highest award for valor.

The family of Corporal Aaron Yamin graciously gave the museum several mementos, including Yamin’s Distinguished Service Cross while serving with Company B, 306th Infantry, 77th Infantry Division during World War I.

He was killed in action, but was honored for an exceptional display of bravery by volunteering to cut a strip of enemy barbed wire to make an opening for his company, that was under heavy fire from artillery and machine guns.
